LET'S RODEO!
San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo
launches
rodeo season with third
major
industry honor
VOLUNTEERS ON A MISSION
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday
season comes to a close, the San
Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is busily
preparing for San Antonio and South
Texas families to come together once
again and experience its 59th annual
event, which strives to be a model of
family entertainment and value.
This time of year, the Joe and Harry
Freeman Coliseum grounds are being
converted into a major event destination
that draws over 1 million visitors annually
to the rodeo and concert performances,
fairgrounds and carnival activities, shopping
areas and livestock exhibitions in the
barn areas.
While the Stock Show & Rodeo maintains
a small full-time staff working toward
event development and the various operational
areas of the show, the key to the
successes experienced by SALE, the San
Antonio Livestock Exposition, is a direct
result of the loyal commitment, dedication
and persistent efforts of its 4,000-
member volunteer force serving on over
37 different committees.
The goal for everyone associated with
the organization is focused on making
sure the San Antonio Stock Show &
Rodeo is a world-class experience for all
participants and also toward the ultimate
mission of the nonprofit organization —
“Helping Youth Today so that Agriculture
Can Grow Tomorrow.” Since the inception
of the SALE Scholarship Fund in 1984, over
$79 million has been committed to education
for youth in Texas in the form of
scholarships, educational commitments,
grants, endowments, auction premiums
and calf scramble proceeds.
THREE-TIME LARGE INDOOR
RODEO OF THE YEAR
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo was honored in early December to announce that yet another
banner will be displayed from the AT&T Center rafters when the
annual Stock Show & Rodeo takes place Jan. 31–Feb. 17.
Among the four NBA championship banners belonging to the
Spurs, an unprecedented third PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the
Year banner will be added next to the awards the Stock Show
and Rodeo has received the last two years.
“We are so proud to be recognized and nominated here
with our industry peers, but the real happiness comes from
accepting this award on behalf of our 4,000-plus volunteers
who make our organization so special, as well as the entire
city of San Antonio and the surrounding communities that
support us each year,” says SALE executive director and CEO
Keith Martin.
This win marks the third consecutive year the San Antonio
Stock Show & Rodeo has been named the recipient of this prestigious
industry award, and the organization could not be more
delighted to mark victories in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
ENTERTAINMENT ABOUNDS
In addition to the best rodeo action anywhere, the Stock
Show & Rodeo has brought some of the brightest names in
music entertainment to perform in the AT&T Center following the
21 rodeo performances in the 18-day period. This year’s lineup boasts country superstars such as Alan
Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Big & Rich;
teen sensations The Jonas Brothers;
Xtreme Bulls performances spotlighting
the Randy Rogers Band and Jason
Aldean; and a rodeo finals featuring
Gary Allan. New this year is a Christian
youth night event featuring TobyMac and
Jeremy Camp. Southern Rock legends
Lynyrd Skynyrd and Latin megastars Los
Tigres del Norte are also coming back to
San Antonio.
The fairgrounds are also loaded with
daily free family entertainment and fun,
with a world-class carnival, three live
music stages, world-famous Swifty Swine
Racing Pigs, the Terry Stokes hypnotist
show, Birds of Prey Theater, Cheez-It World
of Animals Petting Zoo, HEBuddy Kids
Corral and much,much more.
GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
This year, an exciting new package is
being offered for the first time. The Rodeo
Star Experience package is bringing you
the REAL DIRT on what the Stock Show &
Rodeo has to offer. The ticket includes free
parking, a catered ribeye chuckwagon
meal with actual rodeo contestants, a
reserved seat in a private Fan Fiesta section
over the chutes, an escort down to the
actual rodeo dirt for a firsthand view of the

unbelievable opportunity for the ultimate
rodeo fan.
LET’S RODEO, SAN ANTONIO!
SALE chairman of the board Tres
Kleberg adds, “We pride ourselves in
being a tight-knit family of volunteers
that pulls together in all of our many
committees and activities to have a
successful event year in and year out.
Their dedication and determination are
what has allowed us to continue not
only to receive recognition on a national
stage, but to carry out our mission of
enhancing education to the youth of
Texas as well.”
