Camerata San Antonio
Begins Fifth Season
By EMILY WATKINS FREUDIGMAN
Camerata SA will present six concerts in San Antonio, four
in Kerrville, and two in Boerne in the 2007-2008 season,
featuring musicians from the San Antonio Symphony and guest
artists from around the country.
Programs include an all-Beethoven concert, a recital featuring
SAS principal clarinetist Ilya Shterenberg, works for soprano
and string quartet featuring Susan Lorette Dunn, and a preview
of Camerata SA’s first commercial recording, the chamber
music of Miguel del Aguila.
In addition to its critically acclaimed concert series,
Camerata SA presents free in-school concerts in traditionally
underserved areas of San Antonio and the surrounding area
through its Adopt-A-School program. The concerts are short
and engaging, covering a wide range of musical styles. They
are geared toward students in grades K-4. Camerata SA has
already secured plans to visit six schools in 2007-2008.
Camerata San Antonio is the premier professional chamber
music ensemble in San Antonio and the Hill Country. Established
by Kenneth Freudigman and Emily Watkins Freudigman (principal
cellist and assistant principal violist of the San Antonio Symphony)
in 2003, the ensemble is regularly praised by reviewers and audiences
for its imaginative programming
and energetic performances.
Programs always
include the unexpected — the
thread that ties them all
together is the passion of the
music and the performers.
